CLIMATE PROTECTION AT GOVECS

As one of the leading e-scooter manufacturers in Europe, climate protection is one of our core matters. That’s why we constantly strive for solutionsto reduce our ecological footprint to a minimum. Our sustainability journey began with a comprehensive approach to avoid unnecessary emissions during our production and supply chain processes and to live a climate-friendly culture. Today, we go beyond this and support different climate projects with the goal to offer a climate-neutral fleet to you.

THE EARTH IS ROOTED IN OUR CULTURE

We set sustainable impulses and want to impart a climate-friendly, sustainable and resource-preserving culture to all of our more than 200 employees. This culture starts with the prevention of waste in our offices, where we set on reusable materials and the reduction of paper and power to a minimum and ends with the possibility to also work from home and reduce business trips to a minimum. With our Job Scooter model we naturally offer e-scooters to our employees to provide an emission-free alternative to the company car.

CLIMATE PROTECTION IN OUR PRODUCTION

Almost all of our e-scooters are produced locally in our production site in Wroclaw, Poland and in a partner’s production site in Spain. On this occasion we also pay attention to short and direct supply chains to save logistic paths and reduce emissions here, too. For our kick e-scooter ELMOTO KICK the situation is different: Nearly all high-quality components for the ELMOTO KICK are produced in China. To avoid unnecessary logistic paths here, we decided to produce this e-scooter completely in China.

CAREFUL SELECTION OF MATERIALS

The better the components we are using, the longer the lifecycle of an e-scooter. Under this premise, we carefully select raw materials and technology components and cooperate with long-term partners and suppliers to meet rigorous quality standards. Due to this excellent quality, we are able to save lots of resources and materials.

WHAT ABOUT UNAVOIDABLE EMISSIONS?

Despite all efforts to reduce emissions where we can, there are still emissions we currently cannot avoid. To enable us to compensate for these CO₂ emissions, we work together with ClimatePartner and support various climate projects in order to be completely climate neutral as a company. At the same time, we can offer a completely climate-neutral electric scooter fleet not only to our private and job scooter customers, but also to you – upon request.

Photovoltaic system in Namibia

We support a photovoltaic system in the region Outapi, Namibia, which produces 9,000 MWh of energy annually. By supporting this project, the system can increase its share of renewable energy. Ten percent of our invest goes into expansion of schools and medical care.

Run-of-river power station in Sri Lanka

With our second climate project we support a run-of-river power station in the Kuru River in the south of Sri Lanka. Through this, it’s possible to produce 19 GWh electricity per year without endangering the eco system and fish stocks. We also improve and expand the regional infrastructure and pupils receive milk-parcels on a weekly basis.

Wind farms in India

Last, but not least, GOVECS is supporting wind farms in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The 97 wind turbines produce 199.7 MW of green electricity. As this would otherwise have been produced using fossil fuels, the wind farms save around 434,800 tons of CO₂ per year. The project not only contributes to energy security and climate protection, but also improves regional infrastructure and economic growth, for example through the expansion and rehabilitation of roads.
