GOVECS launches the ideal electric scooter for the Sharing Business and cooperates with Swiftmile

Munich, 05 May 2021 – GOVECS, the leading manufacturer of electric scooters in Europe, has its roots in sharing: The company, headquartered in Munich, has been selling sharing scooters worldwide for the past twelve years. This extensive experience has helped to build the perfect electric scooter for use in the sharing sector with the GOVECS FLEX 2.0.

  • The GOVECS FLEX 2.0 model has been specially developed for sharing sector.
  • This immediately available electric scooter is particularly efficient, robust, durable and smart.
  • Together with Swiftmile, special public charging stations are being developed to charge GOVECS vehicles.

Features that help sharing companies achieve long-term profitability
The GOVECS FLEX 2.0 runs with either one or two of the 9.4kg light batteries, allowing for optimal use of resources. Since the drive train developed by GOVECS is geared towards high performance with optimum energy efficiency, the range is up to 110 km when using two handy batteries. The manufacturer completely dispenses with cables when connecting the battery in the vehicle: Thanks to a smart self-unlocking system, two batteries can be changed in less than ten seconds – this saves time and money in logistics and personnel. The scooter with a top speed of 45 km/h is equipped with a bumper on each side and enclosed in an external steel frame to withstand shocks and vandalism. The cover consists of a specially developed "GO ELAST" plastic that cannot break. In order to ensure a truly environmentally friendly and sustainable electric scooter, the GOVECS FLEX 2.0 is manufactured locally in Spain, as 80% of the supply chain is located there. The drive train, however, was completely developed and produced in Germany.

Fully connected thanks to IOT
The GOVECS FLEX 2.0 is equipped with a telematics box from Teltonika as well as with integrated IOT and GPS to optimally network the vehicle fleet. Via an API interface, all vehicle parameters are sent to the company's own GOVECS cloud, which is hosted in Germany. This means that sharing operators can use the GOVECS fleet management system which, for example, enables the development of an app according to individual needs. Thanks to the smart HMI design, the TFT display of the electric scooter can also be designed according to customer requirements.

Swiftmile Public Charging Stations
GOVECS cooperates with Swiftmile to offer sharing operators not only the optimal vehicles and the appropriate software, but also the charging infrastructure. The California-based company develops smart charging stations for cities. These are already available for instance in Berlin, Miami and Washington D.C. A new charging station is currently being developed which is especially designed for compatible with GOVECS vehicles. After a ride, sharing users can park the electric scooter in the so-called mobility hubs and plug it in for charging for the next user. “On the one hand, this has the advantage that electric scooters will be properly parked after a ride and, on the other hand, sharing operators can operate their fleets even more efficiently: Since the scooters are charged by the users themselves, many swapping processes will no longer be necessary in the future. This also reduces emissions from this logistical operation,” says Thomas Grübel, CEO and founder of GOVECS. The first joint mobility hub of the two pioneering companies is expected to be deployed in the first quarter of 2022. Then the stations will be found at favourable locations: Close to transport hubs and in business and residential areas. Thanks to the mobility hubs, sharing operators no longer have to limit themselves to city centres, but can also serve entire cities in the future. The CEO of Swiftmile, Colin Roche, is pleased to be making an important contribution in the area of urban mobility with this cooperation: “We know that micro mobility can replace up to 60% of car journeys in Europe. This cooperation will develop even more of this potential!"
